Jeffrey Pepe, PhD.
Jeff is a patent attorney with over 12 years of experience working at both law firms and companies. As in‑house counsel, Jeff was chief intellectual property officer at two life science companies. Jeff has expertise in worldwide patent matters, including strategic planning, competitive analysis, due diligence, patent procurement, licensing, and enforcement.
Experience
- Developing, implementing, and coordinating worldwide patent portfolio strategies to match client business goals, including patent life cycle management;
- Managing and directing worldwide trademark portfolio development, as well as successfully negotiating settlement and/or co-existence agreements;
- Preparation of clearance opinions and landscape reports; European opposition proceedings and appeals, patent reexaminations, and enforcement;
- Performing due diligence reviews of patent estates for corporate transactions and financings;
- Reviewing and negotiating intellectual property provisions of license, manufacturing, collaboration, clinical trial agreements, confidentiality agreements, material transfer agreements, consulting agreements, and feasibility agreements;
- Working with legal teams that successfully negotiated and completed multi-million dollar deals (1) to out-license intellectual property-related assets and (2) in company sale/acquisition, including licensing and sale of intellectual property;
- Establishing and managing intellectual property budgets, as well as managing outside counsel and partner/alliance relationships.
